Nueces County sets no trash-bin standard for the unincorporated area, though state nuisance law requires refuse be kept in a closed receptacle. In Corpus Christi, § 21-24 requires each customer to keep enough proper refuse receptacles, and bins can't exceed 50 pounds.
Texas counties have no authority to regulate residential trash containers. In unincorporated Nueces County, Health & Safety Code Ch. 343 treats uncontained refuse in a neighborhood as a nuisance unless it is entirely contained in a closed receptacle. Corpus Christi's solid-waste code (Chapter 21) is the operative bin rule for city residents: § 21-24 requires owners and occupants to provide and maintain enough receptacles, and § 21-19 caps a manually emptied receptacle at 50 pounds, bagged refuse at 30 pounds, and bars contents protruding above the lid.
Corpus Christi code violations are misdemeanors; overfilled, uncovered, or rain-filled receptacles will not be collected until corrected.
