Washoe County has no fixed lawn-height number, but weeds, dead trees, brush trimmings and overgrown vegetation are "debris-refuse-rubbish" and a public nuisance when they harbor vermin, create fire hazard, or diminish nearby property values (WCC 50.308).
The Nuisance Code defines "debris-refuse-rubbish" (WCC 50.304) to include weeds, dead trees and branches, and trimmings from brush, lawns, trees, gardens or shrubbery. WCC 50.308(6) makes such debris a nuisance where it could harbor rodents or vermin, become an attractive nuisance or fire hazard, or cause appreciable diminution of neighboring property values; large remote natural lands are exempt absent actual danger. WCC 50.308(5) also targets vegetation that endangers access to a street, utility line, or sewer. Under "blight" (WCC 50.304), uncontrolled landscaping growth counts. Noxious-weed control is also governed statewide by NRS Chapter 555.
Code enforcement may issue a notice of violation, order cutting/removal under WCC Chapter 125, and abate at the owner's expense if not corrected.
