Grand Strand cities regulate STR guest parking tightly. North Myrtle Beach requires hosts to report their compliant on-site spaces, which cap the vehicles allowed. Guests must not overhang pavement, block sidewalks or rights-of-way, and cannot park within 30 feet of an intersection where shoulder parking is allowed.
North Myrtle Beach adopted transient-parking rules in May 2021. Where the City allows shoulder parking in a right-of-way, no car may park within 30 feet of the roadway edge on the approach to an intersection, and no vehicle may overhang the pavement edge. 'Stacked' (end-to-end) parking is allowed if nothing overhangs the sidewalk, right-of-way, or property line. Owners and guests may not reserve or block right-of-way parking, and no parking is allowed in landscape beds that obstruct a sidewalk. Hosts must report their total compliant on-site spaces to the City and guests. Unincorporated Horry County has no STR-specific parking ordinance; standard zoning/driveway rules apply.
Illegal or obstructive parking is enforced by the city police; North Myrtle Beach directs guests to call Police Dispatch (843-280-5511) for parking complaints, and violations can result in citations under the city parking ordinance.
