Huntersville, NC Short-Term Rentals: Parking Rules (2026)

Huntersville Zoning Ordinance Article 8 requires off-street parking for all residential uses, typically 2 spaces per dwelling unit. STR guest vehicles must be accommodated primarily on the driveway or in the garage. Parking on grass, front yards, or other unimproved surfaces in residential districts is prohibited, consistent with common NC municipal anti-yard-parking rules. On-street parking is generally permitted on Huntersville public streets but the NC Motor Vehicle Code (NCGS 20-162) and the Town Code together prohibit parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, within 25 feet of an intersection, blocking a driveway or mailbox, on a sidewalk, or against the direction of travel.
