Unincorporated Solano County requires Vacation House Rental (VHR) operators to provide on-site parking adequate for the maximum permitted occupancy and to identify all parking spaces on the application site plan. Parking conditions are set through the Minor Use Permit and posted in the county-approved Good Neighbor Flyer under Solano County Code Chapter 28.
Solano County Code Chapter 28 (Zoning Regulations) requires every Vacation House Rental application to include a site plan showing all on-site parking areas, driveway access, and outdoor amenities. The number of required parking spaces is set as a permit condition by Solano County Resource Management (Planning Services) based on the property, the maximum permitted occupancy (capped at ten guests), and the applicable zoning district's off-street parking standards in Chapter 28. The county-approved Good Neighbor Flyer must list the parking rules for the unit and be posted inside the rental and provided to guests. Operators are responsible for ensuring guests use designated on-site spaces and do not block driveways, fire lanes, or rural roadways. Street parking and RV/trailer storage may be restricted by permit conditions or by surrounding zoning. Cities (Vallejo, Fairfield, Vacaville, Benicia, Dixon, Rio Vista, Suisun City) set their own STR parking rules within their incorporated limits.
Failing to provide required on-site parking or allowing guests to block roadways, driveways, or fire lanes can result in administrative citations and revocation of the VHR Operating Permit under Chapter 28. Repeated parking complaints reported through the county VHR complaint line are grounds for permit review by Resource Management Code Compliance.
