Since January 3, 2022, every short-term vacation rental in unincorporated Collier County must hold a registration certificate under Ordinance No. 2021-45. There is a one-time $50 fee per unit, plus proof of a DBPR license and a county Tourist Development Tax account.
Ordinance No. 2021-45 (Code Ch. 26, Art. X) requires owners to register each short-term vacation rental with the county and obtain a certificate before advertising or renting. The application requires a copy of the Florida DBPR transient public lodging license, a Collier County Tax Collector Tourist Development Tax account number, and a designated responsible party who is reachable 24/7. The one-time registration fee is $50 per rental unit. The rule covers only unincorporated Collier County; the City of Naples, Marco Island, and Everglades City are excluded. A 90-day grace period ran through April 3, 2022.
Renting without a current registration certificate is a code violation subject to enforcement fines of up to $500 per day.
