Galt Municipal Code Chapter 3.16 establishes the Transient Occupancy Tax at 10 percent of rent charged. Operators file returns with the Finance Department and must keep guest registers for at least three years. Registration is required within 30 days of starting operations. Platform operators may remit on behalf of hosts but the host remains jointly liable. Failure to remit triggers a 10 percent penalty plus 1.5 percent monthly interest. Annual business license fees vary based on gross receipts. Some STR programs include additional per-night fees to fund enforcement and affordable housing. The California Tourism Assessment (0.00195) also applies to lodging receipts over a threshold.
