Baltimore regulates temporary garage sale signs, allowing them only on private property during the sale period. Signs in public rights-of-way are prohibited and subject to removal.
Temporary signs advertising garage or yard sales may be displayed on the property where the sale is being held. Signs are generally limited to 6 square feet in residential areas. Signs may not be placed on utility poles, traffic signs, trees on public property, or in public rights-of-way. Directional signs on other private property require the property owner's permission. All garage sale signs must be removed within 24 hours after the sale ends. Baltimore does not require a permit for garage sale signs on private property.
Signs placed on public property or in rights-of-way may be removed immediately by the city. Failure to remove signs after the sale may result in a property maintenance citation.
