Scottsdale regulates all temporary signs content-neutrally by zoning district and duration. Non-permanent signs on minor collector or local roads may not exceed 3 feet in height or 6 square feet in area, and cannot be displayed for more than 48 consecutive hours. Signs are prohibited in the public right-of-way of major streets.
Scottsdale updated its Sign Ordinance to regulate all temporary signs content-neutrally. Garage sale signs are treated the same as any temporary sign. Non-permanent signs may be placed within rights-of-way classified as minor collectors or local roads without a permit, provided they: do not exceed 3 feet in height; do not exceed 6 square feet in area; are not placed in travel lanes, medians, or driveways; and are not displayed for more than 48 consecutive hours. Signs are prohibited on arterial roads and major rights-of-way. Signs on private property must comply with the property's zoning district sign regulations. All temporary signs in the public right-of-way on major roads are prohibited. Code enforcement removes non-compliant signs.
Non-compliant signs may be removed by code enforcement. Repeated violations may result in citations.
