Signs in the state right-of-way (PennDOT-maintained roads such as U.S. 1, PA 611, PA 413) are subject to removal under 36 P.S. §2718.101. Signs on utility poles and traffic sign posts are banned. Most municipalities require removal within 7 to 15 days after the election. Yard signs do not require permits. Candidate committees remain responsible for sign removal even when placed by supporters.
