Above-ground pools in unincorporated Cobb County are subject to the same barrier and safety requirements as in-ground pools under the 2024 ISPSC adopted January 1, 2026. The pool wall may serve as the required barrier if it is at least 4 feet high and ladder or step access is secured with a self-latching gate when not in use. Building permits are required for above-ground pool installation. All pools must comply with zoning setback requirements for the applicable residential zone. Unpermitted pools: removal or retroactive permit with double fees. Safety violations: immediate correction required. Fines $100 to $500.
