Beekeeping is allowed in unincorporated Fulton County in AG-1 zones and in most residential zones with setback requirements. Atlanta Code §18-71 permits hives with neighbor-setback rules.
Fulton County does not have a county-wide beekeeping ordinance for non-ag zones. Atlanta allows up to 2 hives on lots under 1/4 acre, increasing with lot size, with 10-ft setbacks from property lines and 25-ft setbacks from public sidewalks. Hive entrances must face away from neighbors or be screened by a 6-ft barrier. Sandy Springs and Roswell allow beekeeping but require registration with the city. Georgia Department of Agriculture registers all apiaries with 1+ hive under O.C.G.A. §2-14-41.
Local code violations: civil fines $100-$500. State unregistered apiary: misdemeanor.
