Tuolumne County Ordinance Code Chapter 6.04 requires dogs to be on a leash not exceeding 6 feet when off the owner's property. Dogs must be exclusively on the owner's premises or under control of a competent person. All dogs must be licensed within 30 days of turning 4 months.
Chapter 6.04 defines a leash as any substantial rope, leather strap, chain, or other material not exceeding 6 feet held by a person capable of controlling the dog. Dogs found at large are subject to impoundment. Dog licensing is required under both county ordinance and CA Food & Agricultural Code Β§30500+. Licenses are available at the shelter (10040 Victoria Way, Jamestown, TueβFri 9 AMβ2 PM) or by mail. A late penalty applies if licensing is not completed within 30 days, with an exception for young dogs under 6 months if spayed/neutered.
Off-leash: $50 to $200 citation. Failure to clean up: $100 to $500. Unlicensed dog: $50 to $250. At-large dog: impound fees.
