Animals lawfully possessed before the state registration deadlines may be grandfathered with registration. Escaped dangerous animals trigger MDWFP and Sheriff response. Hedgehogs, sugar gliders, and ferrets are not classified as dangerous. Memphis metro proximity does not alter Mississippi law for county residents.
