Adults in Wayne County may possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis on their person, store up to 10 ounces at home, and grow up to 12 plants per household under Michigan recreational law.
Michigan's MRTMA (MCL 333.27955) sets statewide caps that apply across Wayne County. Adults 21 or older may possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana outside their home, up to 15 grams of which can be in concentrate form. At a private residence, up to 10 ounces may be stored, but any amount above 2.5 ounces must be kept locked. Households may grow up to 12 plants total regardless of the number of adults living there. Cannabis cannot be consumed in public places, in a moving vehicle, or where smoking tobacco is prohibited. Workplaces may still bar use under MCL 333.27954.
Possessing more than allowed, public consumption, or unlocked storage above 2.5 ounces can lead to civil infractions, fines, and potential criminal charges.
