North Richland Hills, TX Curfew Laws: Juvenile Curfew (2026)

NRH has adopted a juvenile curfew ordinance under Texas Local Government Code Section 370.002, which authorizes cities to enact curfews provided they are reviewed every three years. Under the ordinance, minors under 17 years of age may not be in public places or establishments during curfew hours: 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM Sunday through Thursday (often suspended during summer break in some versions; check current ordinance text), and 12:00 midnight to 6:00 AM Friday and Saturday. Daytime school-hour curfew also typically applies on school days, prohibiting school-age minors from being in public between 9 AM and 2:30 PM (or similar hours). Exceptions to curfew include: accompanied by a parent, guardian, or adult authorized by a parent; traveling to or from lawful employment; in a case of reasonable, necessary emergency; attending a school, civic, religious, or recreational activity sponsored by a recognized entity; engaged in interstate travel through NRH; exercising First Amendment rights; or on the sidewalk of the minor's residence or a next-door neighbor's residence with consent. Violations can result in citations to both the minor and the parent (parental responsibility). Penalties are typically Class C misdemeanors with fines up to 500 dollars. The three-year review requirement means the ordinance is periodically renewed or allowed to sunset.
