Great Parks of Hamilton County parks are open from dawn until dusk daily. No person may remain in or use any part of the park district's facilities while it is closed, unless they hold a special written permit from the Chief Executive Officer.
Great Parks of Hamilton County is a park district organized under ORC Chapter 1545 and governed by a Board of Park Commissioners. Its adopted rules (Chapter 132 of the park district by-laws) set the hours of operation: the district is open from dawn until dusk daily unless otherwise authorized by the Chief Executive Officer. Being in a park after closing without a written permit is a violation. Separately, a motor-vehicle permit is required to drive into a Great Parks property during open hours. Individual municipal parks in Hamilton County set their own hours, which are usually posted at each park.
Violating the hours-of-operation rule is punishable under ORC 1545.99 by a fine of up to $150 for a first offense and up to $1,000 for each subsequent offense (park by-law § 130.99).
