Chino, CA Drone Rules: Park Drone Restrictions (2026)

Chino does not publish a parks ordinance banning drones. Title 12 (Public Property) of the Chino Municipal Code, codified through Municode Supp. 37 (Ordinance No. 2025-002, March 18, 2025), does not contain a UAS-specific section, and the city's Parks & Recreation portal (cityofchino.org/204) lists no posted drone prohibition. That means launches, landings, and overflight of city parks (Ayala Park, Pomona-Rincon Park, Borba Park, etc.) are governed by federal and state law rather than a local ban. Federal rules: 49 U.S.C. §44809 requires CBO safety guidelines, ≤ 400 ft AGL in uncontrolled airspace, visual line of sight, and LAANC authorization for controlled airspace — relevant because Chino Airport (CNO) Class D surface area covers most of the city's parks, and Ontario International (ONT) Class C shelves cover the northern edge. Adjacent properties operate under different rules: Chino Hills State Park (south of the city) prohibits all drone takeoff and landing under 14 Cal. Code Regs. §4316.5, which states 'no person shall operate any... unmanned aircraft system' in a state park unit without a permit. Prado Regional Park, a San Bernardino County Regional Park immediately south of Chino, is governed by San Bernardino County Code §22.04 regional parks rules and the County's posted drone policy.
