Galloway fences must not exceed six feet, must sit 20 feet back from the front line, show the finished side outward, stay 30 inches or lower in corner sight triangles, and may not be placed within a dedicated right-of-way.
Chapter 233 sets Galloway's core fence standards in one place: a six-foot maximum height for fences and walls; a 20-foot setback from the front property line; the finished side facing outward; a 30-inch cap for anything in a corner-lot sight triangle under ยง 233-40; and no fence within a dedicated public right-of-way. Fences and walls are otherwise exempt from the accessory-use setback requirements, meaning a conforming fence may run along side and rear lines. Concertina and barbed wire are barred except for agricultural, governmental, or utility uses. Swimming-pool barriers additionally follow N.J.A.C. 5:23 pool-fencing rules.
Non-conforming fences (too tall, in the right-of-way, wrong side out, or blocking a sight triangle) are corrected through Code Enforcement notices and, if uncured, municipal-court fines.
