Full Breakdown
Galloway's Land Management Ordinance (Chapter 233) limits residential fences and walls to a maximum height of six feet. The stricter rule applies at intersections: on a corner lot, any fence or wall within the sight triangle required by § 233-40 may be no taller than 30 inches, preserving traffic visibility. Fences must also sit at least 20 feet back from the front property line, and the finished (smooth) side must face outward toward the neighbor or street. These are township zoning standards enforced by Community Development, separate from the state Uniform Construction Code that governs the structure itself.
Violations & Fines
Enforced by the Zoning Officer / Code Enforcement under Chapter 233; a non-conforming fence must be lowered, moved, or removed, and continued violations carry municipal-court penalties.
