City of Schenectady Zoning Code Article VI limits residential front-yard fences to 4 feet and side/rear-yard fences to 6 feet. Town of Niskayuna matches the 4/6 standard. Rotterdam and Glenville use 3-ft front/6-ft rear in most residential zones. Commercial and industrial districts allow 8 feet in most municipalities. Retaining walls are usually excluded from height calculation.
