Barriers must have self-closing, self-latching gates with latches at least 54 inches above grade. Openings in the barrier cannot permit passage of a 4-inch sphere. Pools with power safety covers meeting ASTM F1346 may qualify for alternative compliance. Pool barriers must be inspected during the permit process.
