Vertical pickets must be less than 4 inches apart; horizontal members over 45 inches apart so children cannot climb. Pools accessed through a house door require audible door alarms meeting UL 2017. Above-ground pools with walls 48 inches or higher may qualify if ladders are removable or lockable. Electrical bonding per NEC and IL Plumbing Code required. Final inspection mandatory before water use.
