NY Executive Law Β§387(14) and 19 NYCRR Β§1228.2 mandate ASTM F2208-compliant pool alarms capable of detecting any surface entry for pools constructed or substantially modified after December 14, 2006. Rochester, Brighton, Pittsford all enforce via building permit inspection.
Non-compliant barrier: pool use prohibited; fine up to $5,000 and/or 15 days imprisonment per day of violation under NY Exec Law. Alarm signage violations: $500 first offense, $1,000 subsequent. Substantial liability exposure for drowning incidents.
