Florida Statute 515.27 requires all residential swimming pools to be isolated by a 48-inch barrier with latches 54 inches above ground. The barrier cannot have openings that allow a 4-inch sphere to pass through. In addition, the pool must have at least one of: (1) approved pool safety cover, (2) exit alarms on doors leading to pool area, (3) self-closing/self-latching doors on all dwelling doors accessing the pool. Temple Terrace Building Department verifies compliance at final inspection before pool fill. Non-compliance before water addition is a second-degree misdemeanor.
