Dublin allows recreational backyard fires that meet Ohio Fire Code Section 307.4 size and setback rules. Fires for waste disposal are prohibited; only clean firewood may be burned.
Recreational fires may not exceed 3 feet in diameter and 2 feet in height and must be at least 25 feet from any structure or combustible material. Portable outdoor fireplaces and chimineas must be 15 feet from structures. An adult must supervise the fire with an extinguishing means ready. Fire officials may order any fire extinguished that produces excessive smoke or creates a nuisance for neighbors.
Failing to extinguish a nuisance fire after order from a fire official is a minor misdemeanor. Continued violations escalate under Dublin Code Chapter 1307.
