North Richland Hills requires property owners to keep weeds and brush under 12 inches and clear dry vegetation near structures. Enforcement is through NRH Code Enforcement under Chapter 66.
North Richland Hills Code of Ordinances Chapter 66 (Vegetation) requires owners and occupants to keep grass, weeds, and rank vegetation below 12 inches in height on all residential and commercial lots. Dead brush and dry vegetation within 30 feet of any structure must be maintained to reduce fire spread risk, particularly important near wooded areas along Walker Branch, Big Fossil Creek, and the Cotton Belt Trail corridor. Code Enforcement may issue a 10-day notice to abate; if the owner fails to act, the city may mow and lien the property under TX Local Government Code 342.004 and charge administrative fees of around 200 dollars plus the mowing cost. Texas Health and Safety Code 341 also allows public nuisance abatement. Vacant lot owners in Smithfield and Home Town neighborhoods should contract routine mowing. NRH also enforces 2021 International Fire Code Section 304 on hazardous vegetation near structures. Call Code Enforcement at (817) 427-6650 to report.
