All consumer fireworks are illegal inside North Richland Hills city limits. Texas Occupations Code 2154 gives cities authority to ban fireworks, and NRH strictly prohibits their sale, possession, and use.
North Richland Hills Code of Ordinances prohibits the sale, possession, and discharge of fireworks of any kind within the city limits, including sparklers, firecrackers, Roman candles, bottle rockets, and aerial shells. Texas Occupations Code Chapter 2154 (Fireworks Regulation) authorizes cities to enact local bans, and NRH has done so citywide. Violations are Class C misdemeanors with fines up to 2,000 dollars for fireworks offenses under state and local law. NRH Fire Marshal and Police enforce the ban especially during the July 4 and New Year's Eve holidays, with heavy patrols in neighborhoods like Home Town, Smithfield, and around Iron Horse Golf Course. Residents may attend permitted displays such as the NRH Family 4th fireworks show at NRH2O or events in nearby cities. Unincorporated Tarrant County areas to the north (outside the city) allow limited fireworks but transporting them into the city is illegal. Call (817) 281-1000 to report fireworks use.
