Davidson County is not designated a high wildfire hazard area like East Tennessee mountain counties, but Metro and the Tennessee Division of Forestry track risk on wooded fringes and during drought. Burn bans may be issued countywide.
Davidson County's mostly developed terrain limits wildfire exposure compared with East Tennessee gateway counties, but Tennessee Department of Agriculture's Division of Forestry still tracks Davidson on its statewide fire-risk maps. During drought or red-flag periods, the State Forester or Metro Mayor may issue countywide burn bans suspending most outdoor burning. Greenway-adjacent neighborhoods and rural pockets near Beaman Park, Bells Bend, and Percy Priest are highest risk. Metro does not currently impose mandatory home-hardening or ember-resistant construction beyond IFC and IBC, but NFD recommends defensible-space practices and metal mesh on attic vents during dry years.
Burning during a state or Metro burn ban can be charged as a misdemeanor and cost suppression and damage restitution if the fire spreads. Civil penalties for repeat violations escalate quickly.
