Paramus requires every mobile food truck, cart, or trailer to obtain an annual Mobile Retail Food Establishment license from the Board of Health before selling food or beverages within the Borough.
Created by Ordinance No. 2025-09 and amended by Ordinance No. 2025-19, the Borough's Mobile Retail Food Establishments chapter applies to any movable restaurant, truck, van, trailer, cart, bicycle, or watercraft used to transport, store, or prepare food for retail sale. Licenses run on a calendar year from January 1 through December 31 with no proration. Operators must prominently display the license while vending and comply with any other approvals required under the Borough Code.
Operating without a valid license, failing to display it, or violating amendment provisions can result in Borough penalties, license revocation, and inability to legally vend in Paramus.
