Garfield issues mobile food vendor licenses through the Health Department, capping active licenses at five per twelve-month period and giving preference to Garfield residents.
Under the Mobile Food Handlers chapter, all mobile food vendors must obtain an annual license from the Department of Health before selling food or beverages. Applications are made in writing on a city form, applicants and any additional drivers must be fingerprinted at their own expense, and Annual Health Department Licenses expire on December 31. The total number of active licenses may not exceed five at any time, and resident applicants receive preference. A separate Fixed Location Food Truck license (annual fee $300) covers stationary trucks in the B-1 district.
Operating without an active mobile food vendor license, exceeding the cap, or selling without fingerprint clearance can result in summonses, license denial or revocation, and seizure of product.
