NY Tax Law §1115(a)(18) exempts casual sales of used personal household items. Signs announcing sales must comply with each municipality's sign ordinance — Albany City Code Ch. 375 Art. IX limits temporary signs to 6 sq ft and 14-day duration, and prohibits attachment to utility poles or street signs. Removal required within 48 hours of sale end.
