Louisville Metro does not set specific hours for garage sales but LMCO Β§99.05 noise ordinance applies. Sales must not create disturbance during quiet hours (generally 11 PM-7 AM). Daytime weekend sales are standard practice.
Louisville Metro does not impose specific hours when garage sales must begin or end. However, all residential activity must comply with LMCO Ch. 99 (Noise Ordinance) which restricts disturbing noise during nighttime quiet hours generally defined as 11 PM to 7 AM on weekdays (some areas 10 PM-7 AM). Traditional garage sale hours run 8 AM-4 PM Saturday and sometimes Friday/Sunday. Sales causing traffic congestion on residential streets may prompt enforcement under LMCO Β§71 (traffic) if parked vehicles block driveways, fire hydrants, or mail delivery. All merchandise, tables, canopies, and signs must be removed or stored by end of each sale day; items left visible from the street overnight may trigger property maintenance violations under LMCO Β§156 (Property Maintenance Code). HOA covenants in gated communities may set stricter hours.
Noise during quiet hours: $100-$500 LMCO Β§99.99. Traffic obstruction: LMCO Β§71 parking citations. Items left out overnight: property maintenance violation $50-$200. Persistent violations escalate to Code Enforcement Board.
