Clark County classifies home businesses as Exempt, Minor, or Major. Exempt businesses need no county review; Minor businesses need a Type I permit and Major businesses a Type II permit, based on employees, customers, vehicles, and accessory-structure use.
Under CCC 40.260.100, home businesses meeting the general standards plus the Exempt criteria (no accessory-structure use in urban areas, up to two employees, no customers on site, no outside storage, one business vehicle) require no county review. Minor home businesses, which may allow up to six on-site customers per day and limited accessory-structure use, are reviewed through a Type I process. Major home businesses, allowing more customers, employees, or vehicles and larger accessory structures, require a Type II process and, in urban areas, a minimum 10,000-square-foot lot (2.5 acres rural). Operating hours for on-site Minor/Major businesses are limited to 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Exceeding a permit tier's standards requires stepping up to the next permit; a permit is revoked under Chapter 32.12 for non-compliance or if the operator relocates.
