Vancouver prohibits leaving any vehicle parked on a public street for more than 24 consecutive hours. Officers attach a notification sticker; if the vehicle is not moved within 24 hours of the sticker, it may be towed to impound.
VMC Β§ 19.12.100 (Prolonged Parking) prohibits vehicles from remaining on any highway longer than 24 hours without a valid permit. After a notification sticker is attached, the vehicle owner has 24 hours to move the vehicle before it may be towed to a place of safety. The same section and VMC Β§ 19.12.110 apply to vehicles with expired registration tabs. Separate restrictions under VMC Β§ 19.12.080 ban trailer coaches, semi-trailers, boat trailers, utility trailers, and motor homes from parking on residential streets in residential zones. Vehicles over 9,000 lbs. GVW are also prohibited on residential streets. Enforcement is handled by Vancouver Police Department (VPD).
Base fine $35 if paid within 30 days; $60 if paid after 30 days (VMC Β§ 19.13.060). Vehicle may also be towed at owner's expense.
