Under Chapter 429 Article VIII of the Paramus zoning code, a home occupation must be conducted within the dwelling and may not occupy more than 15% of the habitable floor area. Prohibited home occupations include retail businesses, beauty parlors, barbershops, mortuary establishments, automobile and mechanical repair, real estate offices, travel agents, photo studios, group dance or music instruction, tea rooms, and tourist homes.
Violations may result in zoning enforcement, stop-work orders, and per-day fines under Borough Code Chapter 1.
