Englewood permits home occupations as accessory uses in residential zones, subject to floor area limits, employee caps, and operational requirements that preserve neighborhood residential character.
Under Englewood's Land Use Code (Chapter 250), home occupations are permitted accessory uses within principal residential buildings. The activity must not exceed 1,000 square feet or 25% of the principal building's aggregate floor area, whichever is smaller. The professional office or studio of an architect, artist, dentist, engineer, lawyer, physician, or similar profession is allowed if operated by a person whose principal residence is in the building. No more than three persons, including the resident-operator, may be employed at one time. All activity must occur within the principal building, except for one stored motor vehicle.
Operating without compliance with district regulations may result in zoning violations, stop-work orders, summonses to municipal court, and daily fines until corrected.
