Ridgewood permits home offices as accessory uses in residential zones, capped at 25% of dwelling floor area or 500 square feet, whichever is less.
Chapter 190 (Land Use and Development), Article X of the Village Code allows a home office only as an accessory use to residential occupancy. The office must be accessed from inside the home with no separate exterior entrance. Equipment is limited to typical office items like phones, computers, fax and copy machines. The use cannot alter the residential exterior or create the impression of business activity from outside. Non-resident employees are prohibited.
Operating a home business that exceeds size limits, employs non-residents, has a separate entrance, or visibly alters the residential character of the building.
