The Village built a formal exception process into § 265-18B, added by Ordinance No. 3543 on September 14, 2016: the Chief of Police, or a designee, has authority under Chapter 265 to waive the overnight parking prohibition when a resident requests it. Waiver requests covering up to five nights are considered as a matter of course once the resident provides the required information describing the vehicle, the location, and the caller, and every request must be phoned in through Central Dispatch rather than any other Village office.

Requests for waivers exceeding five nights are not automatic; each one is individually reviewed on its own submitted information before Central Dispatch or the Chief's designee will approve it. A. 39:4-138 or any other New Jersey statute, so an overnight waiver does not clear a vehicle of a separate, more restrictive state violation. The overnight ban sits within Article III, Parking, Standing and Stopping, alongside the Village's other numbered street-specific schedules, so a car legally parked overnight on one block under a waiver can still be in violation on a different block covered by its own Schedule XVII hours.
