Ridgewood, NJ Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Village of Ridgewood Code § 265-19 makes it unlawful to park on any roadway or in any municipal parking lot in an area not intended or marked for parking, including any area posted or painted by an official government entity to bar parking, or changed by Village Council resolution under a 2020 amendment (Ord. No. 3803). A separate clause in § 265-19B reaches parking anywhere that interferes with and affects public safety, carrying a fine of not less than $75 nor more than $100. Under § 265-19C, an unoccupied vehicle parked in violation of the article is treated as a nuisance and traffic menace, and a police officer may have it towed; the owner must pay removal and storage costs before reclaiming it.

Separately, § 265-25 (Angle parking, last amended 2017 by Ord. No. 3582) requires every vehicle parked on a Village roadway or municipal lot to sit within its officially painted space and oriented correctly: angled stalls with the nose toward the curb at the painted angle, perpendicular stalls with front or rear facing the curb, and parallel spaces with the vehicle's nose facing the direction of travel of the nearest roadway section, meaning a car parked facing oncoming traffic is out of compliance. Emergency vehicles, Village vehicles on official duty, and vehicles displaying valid disability plates or placards (when needed to safely load or unload a person with a disability) are exempted from the space-orientation rule.

The Village's Local Supplemental Violations Bureau Schedule under § 1-15 lists a flat $30 payable fine specifically for a § 265-19 'parking prohibited at all times' ticket, distinct from the $75-$100 range written directly into § 265-19B for the public-safety-interference clause.
