Ridgewood Chapter 115 requires property owners to remove brush, grass, weeds, and noxious vegetation that exceeds permitted limits abutting public streets and on private premises.
Adopted August 10, 1993, Chapter 115 directs the owner or tenant of lands abutting Village streets, avenues, or public highways to remove grass, weeds, and other impediments within three days after written notice. The Property Maintenance Code keeps premises free from plant growth exceeding 10 inches and prohibits noxious weeds including poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, and ragweed. If the owner fails to act, the Department of Buildings and Inspections may abate the nuisance and charge the cost as a lien against the land.
Failure to remove grass, weeds, noxious plants, or impediments within three days of notice from the Village.
