Ridgewood's home office rules require the use to remain incidental and prohibit business activity visible from the exterior, effectively restricting customer or client traffic.
Chapter 190, Article X frames the home office as an accessory use that cannot create the impression of business activity from the exterior. Combined with the no-sign rule, the no-non-resident-worker rule, and the no-separate-entrance rule, the ordinance effectively prevents regular client or customer visits typical of a retail or service business. The use must remain incidental to the residential purpose of the property.
Operating a home occupation that generates visible customer traffic, on-site retail visits, or any pattern of activity creating the impression of a business from outside the home.
