Round Rock's Zoning Code allows home occupations as an accessory use to residential dwellings. A home occupation permit is required and must be renewed annually. The business must be clearly incidental to the residential use and must not alter the residential character of the neighborhood. No more than one non-resident employee may work on-site. The business activity must be confined to the interior of the dwelling. Client or customer visits that generate traffic beyond what is typical for a residential area are restricted.
Operating without a home occupation permit: fines up to $2,000. Non-compliant home businesses may be ordered to cease operations.
