Doylestown Borough Chapter 10, Part 2 (Grass, Weeds and Other Vegetation) requires that owner/occupants not permit grass, weeds, or any vegetation not edible or planted for ornamental purposes to grow or remain on premises exceeding 8 inches in height or throwing off unpleasant or noxious odors. The ordinance also specifically regulates bamboo: it shall not be planted, maintained, or permitted within 40 feet of the edge of pavement of any public roadway, and owners must prevent bamboo from encroaching on adjoining properties including public property and rights-of-way. Buffer yards must be maintained free of debris, rubbish, weeds, and tall grass per Β§201. The purpose is to protect properties from damaging effects of uncultivated gardens, tall grasses, and invasive non-native plantings.
Code Enforcement citation for grass over 8 inches. Borough may abate and bill owner for costs.
