Red Bank enforces the 2018 International Property Maintenance Code requiring properties to be maintained in safe, sanitary condition. Overgrown vegetation constitutes a property maintenance violation. The Borough Health Board also requires premises to be kept clean and not hazardous.
Red Bank adopted the 2018 International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) for all residential and nonresidential structures and premises. Properties must meet minimum standards for sanitation, safety, and maintenance. Overgrown grass and weeds create property maintenance violations. The Borough Board of Health (Buildings and Lands Maintenance) requires every property owner, tenant, or occupant to maintain premises in a clean condition not injurious or hazardous to health. Code Enforcement inspectors perform complaint-based and required inspections. When violations are found, notice is issued and the owner must correct and request reinspection. NJ noxious weed law (N.J.S.A. 4:7-1) also applies.
Property maintenance violation: notice, then fines if uncorrected. Each day may be a separate offense.
