Englewood Chapter 425 requires a City Engineer permit or waiver before removing any regulated tree, with project permits triggered at three or more removals per five-year window.
No person may cut or remove a regulated tree on any land in Englewood without first obtaining a project permit or permit waiver from the City Engineer. Removing fewer than three regulated trees in a five-year period needs a permit waiver, supported by a letter on the tree remover's letterhead listing number, size, species, and reason for removal. Removing three or more in five years requires a full project permit. Emergency removals of imminent hazards may proceed first, but the owner must file a permit and replacement plan within seven days. Violations expose owners to replacement assessments equal to the appraised value of the lost tree.
Cutting a regulated tree without a permit or waiver, skipping the seven-day post-emergency filing, or omitting required species and size information.
