Aurora regulates shared electric scooters and bikes through operator agreements that set deployment caps, parking standards, low-income access requirements, and data-sharing rules for trips originating in the city.
Operators must obtain permission to operate, comply with parking corral and sidewalk-clearance rules, and respond to misparked devices within specified windows. Riders must be at least sixteen, follow traffic laws, and stay off most sidewalks in commercial centers. Equity provisions can include discounted-trip plans for income-qualified residents and required deployments outside core business districts. Coordination with the R Line aims to support last-mile connections, especially around Anschutz, Aurora Metro Center, and Iliff stations.
Improper parking, riding under sixteen, or operator noncompliance can result in fines, device impoundment, and revocation of operating agreements by the city.
