Unincorporated Yuba County has no leaf-blower-specific ban. Powered yard equipment is treated as a general noise source under Yuba County Code Chapter 8.20, which limits noise to the maximum permitted levels by zone and time and prohibits noise that disturbs the peace of a neighborhood.
Yuba County does not have an ordinance that singles out gas leaf blowers (unlike some California cities). In the unincorporated county, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, edgers and similar powered equipment are governed by the general noise standards in Yuba County Code Chapter 8.20. Section 8.20.140 caps maximum permitted exterior noise by zone and time of day -- in single-family residential areas, 65 dBA from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., dropping to 60 dBA in the early evening and 55 dBA overnight -- and Section 8.20.610 prohibits loud, unnecessary or unusual noise that disturbs the peace of a neighborhood. The County's 2030 General Plan performance standards (Table Public Health & Safety-3) similarly limit maximum noise levels at neighboring noise-sensitive properties based on how long a noise event lasts. Practically, this means yard equipment should be operated during daytime hours and not in a way that exceeds the applicable limits at a neighbor's property. These rules apply only in unincorporated Yuba County; Marysville and Wheatland set their own rules, and Yuba City is in Sutter County.
Yard equipment used at excessive volume or during protected nighttime hours can be cited under Chapter 8.20 by Yuba County Code Enforcement. There is no dedicated leaf-blower penalty schedule; enforcement is through the general noise standards.
