Outdoor music is restricted under Ada County's noise ordinance. Voice, musical instruments and sound equipment may not create loud or unusual noise between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM in unincorporated areas.
Section 5-13-3 expressly lists 'voice, musical instrument, horn... loudspeaker... other sound amplifying equipment' as noise sources. From 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM, it is unlawful to make, cause or allow such outdoor music or performance noise if it disturbs a reasonable person of normal sensitiveness, judged by whether it is plainly audible inside another residence or 100 feet away on a public street. Live outdoor events can seek a temporary waiver from the Board of Ada County Commissioners at least 30 days in advance.
Nighttime outdoor music in violation is a misdemeanor under section 5-13-5, punishable per Idaho Code 18-113.
