Amplified music rules in Ada County, ID — also called sound permit, PA system, or live music ordinances — set decibel limits, time-of-day restrictions, and when permits are required.
Ada County's noise ordinance directly targets amplified sound. Radios, loudspeakers and other sound-amplifying equipment may not produce loud or unusual noise between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM in unincorporated areas.
Section 5-13-3 lists 'radio, loudspeaker... other sound amplifying equipment' among prohibited nighttime noise sources. From 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM it is unlawful for any person or business to make, cause or allow such noise if it disturbs a reasonable person of normal sensitiveness. The trigger is the plainly-audible test: sound heard inside another residence or business, or 100 feet or more away on a public right-of-way. Amplified music inside a city is governed by that city's own noise code.
A violation is a misdemeanor per section 5-13-5 and Idaho Code 18-113. The Sheriff's code enforcement responds to complaints.
